Who’s Responsible for a Student’s Education

Who is it that bears the responsibility for the student's education? Is it the student? The school? Or is it the government? This question cannot easily be answered by just one person. The answer could be based on that person†s opinion, and opinions vary from person to person. Some people will say it is solely the student's responsibility. Others might say it is the school's responsibility. While others might say it is the government's responsibility. Some people might say that it's the student's responsibility because the student has to show up to the class on time, be prepared, and pay attention. They could also say that it is the student's responsibility because the student has to be willing study and do the homework. The student has to be willing to learn, and try to learn as best they can. Students have to provide the supplies that they don't get from the school so that they are able to do the work. The student has to study and at least try to pass the courses they are taking so that they can further their education. The student has to provide their own means of transportation to the school if the schools do not, or cannot, provide it for them. The student has to pay attention to the curriculum being taught and attempt to absorb and learn it to the best of their ability, because if they don't they can't really learn anything. The student however can't be held responsible if the teacher isn't teaching the curriculum in a way the students can comprehend and learn it. This is why other people might say that it is more of the school's responsibility, because the teachers are responsible for teaching the curriculum correctly. The students can't be held responsible if the facilities are inadequate for learning or teaching. (The teachers are not at fault either if they don†t have proper classrooms or materials assigned to them. ) The students can't be responsible for all the supplies they need for learning that are supposed to be provided to them. The school is the one responsible for the teachers and the facilities. The school is responsible for keeping the facilities maintained and in adequate condition for teaching and learning. The school and the government are also responsible for making sure the teachers are qualified enough to teach the curriculum they are teaching. The school has to provide equipment for the teachers and for the students, so that the teachers can teach the curriculum properly (and so that the students can learn it properly as well). The school has to provide other supplies as well and insure that the students are getting a proper education. The school has to make sure that most of the students are learning what they are supposedly being taught, and they learn how to use it in the proper way. Schools also have to make sure that the students are in the proper curriculum according to their skill and learning level, so that they don't get far behind in their education. The school also has to use the funding they have in a proper way to help the students and the teachers and keep the buildings adequately kept to ensure the student's and the teacher's safety and to make sure that the facilities are comfortable enough that the teachers can teach the courses and that the students can learn the courses. The school, however, isn't responsible for receiving inadequate funding. The schools get some of their funding from the government. This is another reason why people might say that it isn't the schools† or the student's responsibility, and that it is the government's responsibility. All these are very valid points showing how each of the three is responsible for the education of the students that attend the schools. All three have their own responsibilities to attend to, to give the student a good education. All of these opinions and reasons are valid as well, and they show that the student, the school, and the government are all responsible for the students† education. The student wouldn't be able to learn if the student didn't have adequate facilities to learn in or teachers that could teach the courses properly. Equally the schools couldn't teach the students without the funding they need to keep the buildings well kept and to pay for equipment and supplies to help the teachers teach and the students learn. The government couldn't help the student get a proper education if the schools didn't use their funding properly or didn't follow the proper rules, guidelines, and regulations that have been set up. The schools wouldn't be able to teach the student's if they weren't willing to learn or didn't have their own supplies they are supposed to provide. The student, the school, and the government all have to work together and be willing to help each other to give the student a good, proper education that they can use later in their lives after they stop attending schools and stop furthering their educations. Each has to work in conjunction with the next in order to do their job in the process. This essay has attempted to show how the student, the school, and the government are all responsible for the student's education. It has also tried to show that each of the three has their own part that has to be done in order for their goals to be met. They each have to help individually so that they all can used their combined efforts to give the student a good, proper, and usable education that can be applied to the rest of their life. It also shows how schools or governments alone wouldn't be able to give the education to the student without the help of the other. If the others didn't do their part the student wouldn't be able to get an education and wouldn't do as well later on in their life when they need their education to find a good job, to raise and take care of their family, and have a more secure financial future.

Dramatic Climax Essay

How Does Miller Create Interest in Act Three, the Dramatic Climax Of â€Å"The Crucible†?  In Act Three of Arthur Miller’s â€Å"The Crucible†, tension rises in the courtroom of Salem as John Proctor, Giles and Francis strive to save the lives and respect of their wives. As the trials progress, the audience concentrate more on certain individuals and how they struggle to maintain power and authority in the courtroom. Miller called his play â€Å"The Crucible† because a crucible is a container in which metals are heated to extract the pure element from dross or impurities. In Act 3, John Proctor is tested in a life threatening ordeal and his choice of death rather than betrayal of his conscience shows us that he too has come through the fire to be purified. This creates interest because the comparison of Proctor’s situation and going through fire to be purified is powerful. ‘Going through fire’ emphasises on the pain he must suffer. The audience sympathise for his pain and suffering and so they are interested in Act 3 to see the consequences of the dramatic climax. The main focus of Act 3 has to do with determining who will define innocence and guilt. Proctor makes one audacious gamble for this authority by finally overcoming his desire to protect his reputation, exposing an inner secret sin. He hopes to replace his wife’s blame with his own guilt and bring Abigail down as well in the process. He reveals his private life to examination, hoping to gain some authority, but he does not realise that the competition is high, people may show more energy in the delivery and presentation of their speech. Too many reputations are at stake and Proctor’s surprise comes too late to stop the avalanche. This also creates interest as Proctor is the protagonist who the audience are encouraged to focus on and sympathise with. Proctor making this audacious gamble interests the audience, builds up to whatever the outcome may be, the dramatic climax. Desperation and persuasion are emotions involved within this act. There is a great deal of climax and suspense displayed using many different dramatic devices. Dramatic devices are made to engender interest in the audience. The dramatic devices present in this act seem to follow an order of operation, of starting with the least dramatic to the most dramatic. As more devices build up, more interest is likely to develop. The development of interest is then switched to the climax (turning point). The act starts with a common device such as character interaction. Character interaction in Act 3 set in a courtroom is a lot different to usual character interaction:  GILES (beginning to plead): They be tellin’ lies about my wife, sir, I-  DANFORTH Do you take it upon yourself to determine what this court shall believe and what it shall set aside?  GILES Your Excellency, we mean no disrespect for-  DANFORTH Disrespect indeed! It is disruption, Mister. This is the highest court of the supreme government of this province, do you know it? The fact that Giles is cut off by Danforth before even managing to finish his sentence, shows that more power is on Danforth’s side whilst Giles is beginning to plead for freedom. It also shows that the pace of speech may be very quick as everyone is determined to get their message across. The effect that this gives is that questions and quick speeches build up suspense for answers. Also, Danforth interrogating Giles shows his authority and possession of power over him. The interrogation can also be seen as a dramatic device, it creates interest with the audience waiting for answers to the questions. Another dramatic device is the use of vocal variety. When characters interact in a different way of speech, it shows there is a change of behaviour. It grabs the attention and suspense of the audience and makes them wonder to where this may lead to. An example:  GILE’S VOICE (roaring) I have evidence for the court!  As Giles is roaring, there is a great sense of energy in Giles’ voice, as if he were roaring like a lion. This contributes to the idea of getting the message across to the rest of the court members and the energy makes the audience feel more alert, just like a lion would. This makes the situation more interesting as roaring isn’t usually how Giles would react, so the audience are interested to know where the roaring would lead to. In Act 3, based on the courtroom scene, body language, gestures and even facial expressions play a key role of grabbing the audience’s interest. These factors reveal the character’s personalities depending on what their actions are like. If a character’s actions are more open and broad, it may suggest that they are more confident and powerful. However, if a character’s actions are reserved and tightened, it may suggest that they are under-confident and weaker:  PARRIS (sweating): These people should be summoned. (DANFORTH looks up at him questioningly.) For questioning. As Parris is sweating, this shows that he is anxious about his decision of the people being summoned, but then gains back his confidence when Danforth looks up at him, so he answers back at Danforth’s questioningly look. This interests the audience as there is a change of behaviour within a character.  Characters are at their upmost desperation for innocence and reputation, the matter of what is at stake and how do characters react really indulges itself into the drama. Death is at stake and characters are becoming more and more desperate progressing through the scene. Since the storyline is based upon witch hunting in Salem, the girls who are shown to be witches act out in an eccentric manner. The hysteria of the girls is shown dramatic as it displays what separates the sane from the insane and really engages the interest of the audience. Being set in a courtroom would mean that character interaction is shown from all angles. There is power to be shifted from someone who is higher in authority, and has more arguments to clear themselves from any kind misjudgement to someone who is unable yet desperate to defend themselves.

International trade and restrictions such as tariffs Introduction A tariff is a duty levied on a product when it crosses national borders. The most popular tariff is the import tariff, which is tax levied on an imported product. Most of the time, tariff is imposed for protection or revenue purposes. A protective tariff is designed to insulate import-competing producers from foreign competition. Though protective tariff is not indented to totally prohibit imports from entering the country, it does place foreign producers at a competitive disadvantage when selling in the market. A revenue tariff is imposed for the purpose of generating tariff revenues and may be placed on either export or imports. The important thing to be considered about tariff is who gains and who suffers. It means the impact of tariff on stakeholders. Government gains, because it gains revenue from the tariff. Domestic producers gain, because tariff protects them from foreign competitors. Consumers lose because they pay more. In general, two conclusions can be derived from the effect of import tariff. First, tariff is pro-producer and anti-consumer (domestic). While tariff protects domestic producer, at the same time it increases domestic price of the product. Second, Import tariff reduces overall efficiency of the world economy (large country). It reduces efficiency because protective tariff encourages domestic firms to produce more at home, but they can produce more efficiently abroad. The result is insufficient using resources. Besides, tariff raises employment in the protected industry (such as steel) by increasing the price of competing import goods. Industries that are primary suppliers of inputs to the protected industry also gain jobs. However, industries that purchase the protected product (such as auto manufactures) face higher costs. These costs are then passed on to the consumer through higher prices, resulting in decreased sales. Thus unemployment falls in these related industries. Steel consuming producers argue that because of the high price, they would lose competition with foreign rivals. Chief executives of these firms noted that, tariff drove up their costs and imperiled more jobs across the manufacturing belt than they saved in the steel industry. President Bush found himself in difficult situation by opposing interests of steel producers and steel users. Removing Bush tariff After reviving the steel industry, Bush removed steel tariff in December 2003. He noted that the tariff provided steelmakers time for restructuring and regain competitiveness. But his removal of the tariff was primarily in response to the WTOs ruling. Impact of tariff on stakeholders However, both the issuing and the lifting of the tariffs caused controversy in the United States. All evidence points to the fact that the move seemed to have backfired as the price of raw material have risen, inadequate supply of these raw materials (steel scrap) leading to delivery delays, all of which are transferred to the consumers of steels (automobile manufactures) in form of high prices. In some cases, these steel consumers found it even cheaper to source from abroad, further cutting the steel market in the U.S. and eventually loss of jobs. Most of the car makers shifted their resource from steel to plastic. It left the consumers such as automobile makers to competitive disadvantage situation; because car prices were high and low quality (most of the parts were plastic). Steel scrap is an essential raw material for steel mills around the world. Mini-mills, which run on electricity instead of coal-fired furnaces, produce about one-third of the worlds roughly 900 million metric tons, and they rely exclusively on scrap steel. Nucor Corp. a Charlotte, N.C., a large U.S. steelmaker that operates electricity-fired furnaces, raised prices on its steel-sheet products by $40 a ton as rising demand gave it room to pass on rising raw-material costs to customers. Weirton Steel Corp. followed suit by adding a $25/ton surcharge to all its products. These price hikes has made U.S. steel uncompetitive in the global market. In addition, non-unionized and more efficient steel company (Nucor Steel Corp.), have as a result of the move, taken most of the market share from unionized companys operating old lines. The tariff also meant that Europe was bound to be flooded by the diverted steel, which was cause for concern. However, by 2002, whatever global steel glut that existed had vanished as a booming Chinese economy sucked in more steel imports, further undermining the American steel market. Hence, other foreign producers took the advantage presented by the emerging market s and kept the steel trade going while the U.S. suffered. Amid the fears of the tariffs imposed on steel imports, many in the U.S. regarded the move as wealth destroying and politically escapable. They argued that it did nothing to help the people it intended to in the short term and it failed to address the ensuing high costs, including legacy liabilities in health-care and pension benefits. The argument that the tariff gave the steel industry breathing space to adapt to a new market, has been viewed by some as the developed world version of the old infant industries line that has long been discredited by the Third World. In the global arena, the United States poised at the receiving end of retaliatory levies from Japan and some European countries. The Japanese threatened to impose retaliatory duties on a range of American products, from steel to gasoline and clothing if the U.S. did not drop the tariffs on foreign steel imports the WTO considered illegal. This move was intended to add $85 million a year to the price of American goods exported to Japan. Similarly, in August 2002, the WTO told the European Union it could impose some $2.2 billion in punitive tariffs on imports from the United States, ranging from textiles to pool tables and citrus products. Under retaliatory threat, the Bushs administration spent a good deal of time coming up with a package that would both avert a trade war and blunt criticisms from the domestic steel industry and its workers. The tariffs were lifted by Bush on December 4, 2003. The lifting of the 30 percent steel tariff was welcomed with applause although the administration indicated that it will still be monitoring imports in order to respond if cheap steel surges into the U.S. A major trade war was consequently avoided and within minutes of the announcement, the European Union had dropped its threat of retaliatory tariffs on $2.2 billion of U.S. products. Also joining the celebration were U.S. steel-consuming industries that had watched prices jump by more than 30%. An International Trade report found that in their first year alone the levies exacted a $680 million hit on the economy. Soon after the tariffs were lifted, steel prices in the U.S. rose. This continued through the first quarter of 2004. As of early April, 2004, steel warehouses saw no sign of significant in-bound steel from foreign shores that could drive the price of steel down to the level it had reached before Bush withdrew the tariffs. This indicates that U.S. steel producers may have imp roved its equipment and processes as intended, thereby, putting them at favorable competitive stance to trade steel within and outside the U.S. This can be improved more, if U.S. manufacturers reach a deal with labor unions in order to rid the industry of its legacy costs to employees. Though tariff saved about 60,000 of Americans who worked for steel using manufactures, it increased unemployment in steel consuming industries such as automobile manufacturers. Conclusion The lessons from this act of protectionism vary among individuals and groups of individuals. Indeed, some of the presidents political opponents, such as Representative Dick Gephardt, criticized the plan for not going far enough and some of the steel manufacturers advocated for more time and that tariff exemptions should not be made to countries, especially those that were threatening to impose retaliatory duties. The early withdrawal of the tariffs also drew political criticism from steel producers, as well as supporters of protectionism, but was cheered by proponents of free trade and steel importers. It is however, difficult to determine with certainty if President Bushs tariffs was the necessarily way to go. We have seen that while the tariffs have been somewhat restrictive, they have not fully prevented foreign steel from coming into the United States. In the global economy today where the tenets of free trade have been embraced by most nations, where nations are seeking ways of conveniently eliminating barriers to trade for the purpose of domestic and international economic emancipation the lesson learned is that protectionism will always backfire and it is in the best interest of the U.S. and other nations to stick to and defend the free trade principles.

Computers are made from components that perform simple well-defined functions. The complex interactions of these components give computers the ability to process information. If correctly configured, a computer can be made to represent some aspect of a problem or part of a system. If a computer is configured in this way is given input data, then it can automatically solve the problem or predict the behavior of the system. 1 General principles Computers can work through the movement of mechanical parts, electrons, photons, quantum particles or any other well-understood physical phenomenon. Although computers have been built out of many different technologies, nearly all popular types of computers have electronic components. Computers may directly model the problem being solved, in the sense that the problem being solved is mapped as closely as possible onto the physical phenomena being exploited. For example, electron flows might be used to model the flow of water in a dam. Such analog computers were once common in the 1960s but are now rare. They are practically dead. The operating system decides which programs are run, when, and what resources (such as memory or input/output - I/O) the programs will get to use. The operating system also provides a layer of abstraction over the hardware, and gives access by providing services to other programs, such as code ("drivers") which allow programmers to write programs for a machine without needing to know the intimate details of all the attached electronic devices. Most operating systems that have hardware abstraction layers also provide a standardized user interface. The most popular OS remains the Windows family of operating systems. The Necessary Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to End World War II Ess

After the defeat of Germany, the allies turned their attention on crushing Japan. On August 6, 1945, 8:16 A.M, Enola Gay completed its mission and dropped the 9000lb â€Å"little boy† on Hiroshima. 78,000 killed instantly and many more were to die within 5 years. All together, 250,000 citizens of Hiroshima were killed. Another bomb named â€Å"fat man† was dropped on Nagasaki 3 days later, killing 40,000 people. The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were the quickest way to end the war with the fewest casualties. The boom cost $2000 millions to build and it was a military weapon for war, it should be used to fulfill its purpose- to end the war. The allies may have lost the war if U.S did not use the atomic bomb, the consequences may be even worse. In spite of the lives lost during the bombing, it had taught humans a great deal about atomic bombs and it had advanced mankind. The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were justified and necessary for World War II. In Japan there were more than 2 million combat troops and 9000 aircrafts ready to fight till the very end. Japan was famous for their resistance and pride and the war may take a lot of energy and time to end. If the allies did not use the atomic bombs, peace may come with a heavy price with possibly 500,000 American causalities, as well as that many for Japanese soldiers and maybe half of that number for British. Prime Minister Churchill knew of Japanese pride and said, â€Å"I had my mind the spectacle of Okinawa Island, where many thousands of Japanese, rather than surrender, had drawn up in line and destroyed themselves by hand-grenades†¦Now that nightmare picture had vanished. The consequences are unthinkable if the Allies lost the war, the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were necessary to avoid a future that is dominated by Japan. Mankind learned very important lessons from the atomic bombs in WWII and it prevented any future attempts of another World War. The discovery was also very beneficial to mankind. The lives lost due to the bombing were worth it, they traded peace in the future, a world that is aware of the Atomic Bombs’ dangers and millions of lives were saved.

Lesson 6

Key Question 6 a) The opening Act of King Lear evidently portrays Lear’s downward movement as it coincides with Aristotle’s structure of Greek tragedy. The play begins with Lear, a hero of noble birth and ruler of Britain, in an ordered society soon to be disrupted by a fatal flaw that is the result of his excessive pride. His journey from the ordered to the disordered world becomes apparent after he hands his land over to his two elder daughters and banishes his youngest daughter Cordelia from the kingdom.The initial situation began when Lear asks Cordelia, â€Å"What can you say to draw / A third more opulent than your sisters? † (I i 87-88), in which she answers â€Å"Nothing, my lord† (I i 89). This demonstrates Lear’s arrogance and triggers the rash decision he makes that would greatly impact the tragic events that follow. At the end of the scene, his two elder daughters immediately work to conspire against him so that he would be left with no power at all. Goneril says to Regan that they â€Å"must do something, and i’ th’ heat† (I ii 311).This foreshadows Lear’s impending downward movement and begins the reversal of his fortunes as things go from bad to worse. Lear’s recognition of the truth and the existence of his tragic circumstance becomes slightly clear to him when he wonders whether he has lost his mind and cries out â€Å"O let me not be mad, not mad, sweet heaven! † (I v 46). Act I leaves off at this stage where Lear is about to suffer tremendously before further stages of recognition, retribution, and restitution occur later in the play. ) In Act I of King Lear, references to the principle motifs of nature and the unnatural, sanity/madness, and â€Å"nothing† all reinforce the downward movement of Lear’s perception of his own identity. Lear’s Fool constantly tries to warn him of his mistake in a series of riddles, puns, and songs: â€Å"The hedge-s parrow fed the cuckoo so long / That it had it head bit off by it young† (I iv 221-222). Referencing the nature of animals in that song, the Fool is telling Lear that his two daughters resemble a traitorous â€Å"cuckoo† who betrays the one who raised them.This emphasizes the eventual downward movement of Lear’ perception of his own identity as a father who is so â€Å"loved† by his daughters. When Lear leaves Goneril’s castle and is preparing to visit his other daughter Regan, he prayed to heaven that he would not go crazy: â€Å"O let me not be mad, not mad, sweet heaven! Keep me in temper, I would not be mad! † (I v 46-47). Lear’s fear of going insane from his daughter’s betrayal demonstrates another downward movement of Lear’s perception of his own identity.Also, references to the motif of nothingness occur when the Fool is speaking to Lear in the presence of Kent. The Fool asks Lear, â€Å"Can you make no use of not hing, Nuncle? † (I iv 133-134), in which Lear responds, â€Å"Why, no boy. Nothing can be made out of nothing† (I iv 135-136). This is foreshadowing Lear’s inevitable downfall because he would soon have nothing to make use of since he has chosen to hand all of his formal authority over to his two daughters who do not actually love him.It appears that Lear’s perception of his positive, all-powerful identity is about to lead him into a tragic breakdown in the way the three motifs of nature and the unnatural, sanity/madness, and â€Å"nothing† are referenced throughout the first Act of the play. c) Lear calls upon his three daughters and announces that he intends to divide his kingdom among them, promising the greatest share to the daughter who declares that she loves him the most.Goneril begins with her speech telling Lear that she loves him â€Å"more than words can wield† (I i 57) and Regan makes a request to receive the same value of fortune s as her sister, telling Lear, â€Å"I am made of that same mettle as my sister, / And prize me at her worth. In my true heart / I find she names my very deed of love† (I i 71-73). Both daughters’ speeches, filled with exaggerated flattery and blatant lies, earn each one a generous portion of the kingdom, while Lear decides to banish his youngest daughter Cordelia for not flattering him as the sisters did.As a result, Kent intercepts to warn Lear, â€Å"Reserve thy state, / And in thy best consideration check / This hideous rashness. Answer my life my judgment† (I i 151-153). Kent stakes his life on his opinion that Cordelia is actually the most loyal of the three daughters and begs for Lear to reconsider his rash decision, but he too gets banished by Lear, showing us how Lear is causing his own downward movement due to his excessive pride. Goneril later insults the foolishness of Lear giving away his powers, when she tells Oswald â€Å"let him to my sister, / Whose mind and mine I know in that are one, / Not to be overruled.Idle old man, / That still would manage those authorities / That he hath given away† (I iii 15-19). This shows Lear’s downward movement as Goneril treats him poorly and is certain her sister will treat him the same way. The Fool also reminds Lear of his terrible decision in handing his fortunes over to his daughters. When Lear begins to realize his own mistake, the Fool tells him in a riddle that a snail has a house â€Å"to put ‘s head in; not to give it away to his daughters, and leave his horns without a case† (I v 31-32).All of these situations demonstrate the inevitable downfall of the noble King Lear as his two daughters conspire to strip him of all his remaining power and fortunes. Key Question 9 In an ordered society, both justice and mercy are fundamental. However, in many circumstances they cannot be simultaneously applied. On its own, justice is more essential than mercy in order t o maintain a civilized society. With a system of justice, we could prevent future crimes from taking place, maintain people’s rights and freedom, as well as prevent society from plunging into a state of destruction.With a justice system in place we could take preventive measures against future crimes and laws being broken. If people are punished for the crimes they commit, there would be fewer crimes and less mayhem in the world. People who demonstrate no mecy or remorse for the harm they inflict upon others deserve to be punished, otherwise they will continue their wrongdoings. In Act IV of King Lear, when Cornwall dies from the injuries inflicted by the servant during Gloucester’s blinding, Albany interprets his death as divine retribution.He cries out â€Å"This shows you are above, / You justicers, that these our nether crimes / So speedily can venge† (Iv ii 79-80). Since Cornwall has been punished for blinding Gloucester he can no longer harm other characte rs. Cornwall carried on with his evil intentions until he received his punishment (his own death) which finally put an end to his actions. Society requires a justice system in order to maintain people’s rights, freedom, and equality. In the play, Edgar, Cordelia, and Kent are three characters who have been treated unfairly and were left with no opportunity o prove themselves innocent. Cordelia is fortunate to have her own freedom after leaving the kingdom and marrying the Duke of France. However, Edgar and Kent were left to fend for themselves in order to survive and be accepted by others. When Edgar runs into his father Gloucester, he cries, â€Å"Who is ‘t can say ‘I am at the worst? ’ / I am worse than e’er I was† (Iv i 24-26). Edgar, who must disguise himself as â€Å"poor mad Tom† (IV i 27) in order to be accepted, considers the condition he is in as being the worst ever, compared to anyone else.These characters should be able to s tand up for themselves and voice their opinions without being wrongly punished when it is not what other people want to hear. Edgar and Kent are left to suffer from other people’s mistakes because there is no righteousness in the way they were treated. In an ordered society, everyone deserves to have their own freedom of speech and be treated as equal, regardless of their opinions on different matters. Social justice can ensure that every individual receives the same treatment.An all-merciful society would lead the world to a state of ultimate chaos and destruction. Human existence would constantly be threatened by the dangers of society without a proper system of justice. Regan and Goneril continue to pose as a threat towards Lear and those who are on his side. When arguing with his wife, Albany points out that â€Å"If the heavens do not their visible spirits / Send quickly down to tame these vile offenses, / It will come, / Humanity must perforce prey on itself, / Like mo nsters of the deep. (iv ii 46-49). Albany implies that if the gods do not quickly bring justice everyone will eventually turn against each other, so without someone serving justice to all the evil people, humanity would be threatened by our own human race. Justice would prevail over mercy. In order to maintain a civilized society, people should receive proper punishment and suffer the consequences for their crimes so that we can prevent further crimes in the world, promote freedom and equality, and prevent tyranny in the world.If the Lear universe had a system of justice in place much like in our world today, many of the events leading to the tragic ending could have been avoided. A Walk To Remember Compare Amp Contrast

Both involve a Story Of a boy and a girl, almost completely different in their views, which slowly fall in love n Barefoot, North Carolina. Throughout the movie the struggles of the characters are awfully similar to the struggles of the characters in the book, with a few changes here and there. Although the book and movie are similar, there are still differences between the two such as how the two got to know each other, how the characters are portrayed, as well as how certain events occurred and how the characters reacted to them.The first major difference between the novel and the movie of A Walk to Remember is how different the characters are portrayed in each. For example, throughout the novel the leading girl, Jamie Sullivan, was the shy daughter of the towns Pastor. She was one of the kindest girls anyone had met, she would help anyone whether she was asked or not. She had a big part in the town's orphanage, and she had worshiped God more than anyone had seen. Jamie was an inte lligent conservative girl who wore her blonde hair put in a tight bun all the time.She wasn't known to have many friends, or even do ‘normal' teenager things, and she usually spent her time at school, at the orphanage, or with her father. In comparison, in the movie, Jamie was quite similar to these qualities; she was smart, very religious, shy, kind, and conservative showed by how she had dressed. However, even though Jamie was kind and seemed to be gentle, in the movie it didn't portray how religious she actually was as well as I thought they could've. In addition, don't believe that it showed how much she actually cared for others and wished to help them.For example, Jamie would help younger kids and tutor and do things like that, but in the novel she also worked at an orphanage and would even elf little animals in the middle of the road, but in the movie you didn't truly see that side of Jamie as much. Now on the other hand, the main character, Logan Carter, is quite diffe rent in the movie than how he was described in the novel. F-or example, the very first scene of the movie is Logan playing a mean trick with his friends on a boy.In this scene you can already tell that Logan is supposed to be a â€Å"bad boy' and that h?s supposed to be trouble. In the novel Logan was somewhat of a trouble maker when he was younger, which is possibly what gave the writers the idea to make him a bad boy in the movie. But in reality, Logan is just your average confused teenage boy. He likes to hang out with his friends, go on dates, and didn't enjoy school all that much. Still, in the movie it portrays him as being careless and self centered until Jamie made him realize that he was making some bad choices.Another difference between the novel and the book of A Walk to Remember is how Jamie and Logan actually got to know each other. For example, in the novel they first become a little closer after Logan asks Jamie to the homecoming dance, only because he needed a date and she was the only one aft. But in the movie, they both get cast to do the annual town play, which does happen in the book but it wasn't their first encounter. As the story goes on Logan, as a punishment for his prank in the beginning of the movie, he must participate in the play which he ends up getting the lead role in.He starts to care a little more about the play as the movie progresses and he practices his lines more and more, and eventually asks Jamie to help him with his lines and she agrees to help but on one condition â€Å"he has to promise not to fall in love with her†. Now that line may be cute and seem not that important, but its an incredibly significant quote to the story in my opinion. This quote was used in the novel as well when London had asked Jamie to go to the homecoming dance with her, which I believe shows a little importance that the movie writers had kept such a specific quote.In addition to that, a considerable difference from the book to the movi e would, in my opinion, be the fact that in the novel they fell in love slowly and hung out at one another's house, while in the movie they fell in love faster and did more ‘romantic' or public outings. Also Logan seemed to do more things to â€Å"win† her over in the book such as him visiting the orphanage with her and getting a great deal of money without her knowledge so she could get the orphans Christmas presents, while in the movie they both seemed to just fall in love with each other.Lastly, certain events and reactions differed from the book to the movie. For instance, in the book Lagan's friends would make fun of and tease him for his attraction to Jamie and for spending time and being friends with her. But they never would have dared make fun of Jamie to her face, mainly because they let like she was on Gods â€Å"good side† or had it â€Å"in† with God. Even if they had made fun of her to her face you could tell, just from what you have read tha t she wouldn't have done anything about it and she wouldn't have had a comeback for them.But on the contrary, in the movie Logan and his friends would make fun of her to her face and ridicule her. Even though she was supposed to be Godly and kind, she still remained above it all and even had some types of comebacks. For example, in one scene one Of Lagans friends had said â€Å"If there is a higher power, why is it He can't get you a new sweater? And Jamie replies, â€Å"Because He's too busy looking for your brain†.The last difference between the book and the movie is that in the book when Logan found out about Jamie illness he felt uncomfortable and didn't know what to do. But on the other hand in the movie he seemed to be devoted to her and would do anything for her and he knew exactly what to do, even if he was in denial for a little bit after he heard the news. To conclude, there are differences between the book and the movie, some may be minor some more noticeable, but overall the book and the movie are Mathew similar to each other.

According to NSO Survey, in the year 2011 the population of child labor grew up to 3 million compared in the year 2001 that has 2.4 million population of child labor. 25% of the population are doing hazardous jobs that can harm them. Many laws had been passed but the population of child labor still increases. Child labor refers to the employment of children in any work that deprives children of their childhood, their ability to attend regular classes, and totally dangerous for them. In the developing countries like in the Philippines with high poverty and poor schooling opportunities, child labor is still present. Vast majority of child labor is found in the rural places and an unreached help of the government. Poverty and lack of schools are considered as the primary cause of child labor. For better information, the researcher includes the history and the effects of the topic. Its history can be traced in some dark realms of industrialization but in a more detailed study, the practice can reveal that child labor was present, much before industrialization spread out. Unfortunately, they work at a lower pay. The effects of child labor are definitely unimaginable for such a young age. Child labor deprives the child’s proper childhood. Their time of childhood days was now taken by their jobs. It also suffers their physical and mental mind that makes them tortured. They are forced to feed their family and it gives them such a hard responsibility to handle out. This leads to another new generation because of adult modeling. The parents must be aware of the rights of their children to be dresses, to be fed, and to attend in school to have a better future.

German Expressionism

German Expressionism: â€Å"Nonstarter† vs.. â€Å"The Cabinet of Dry. Calamari† German expressionism is a movement that started post World War 1, and before the Second World War. It used a unique technique of shadowing and distinctive camera angles. The films during the movement told stories that mimicked the forbidding reality of the German's life. For example, in â€Å"The Cabinet of Dry. Calamari,† the set design was painted to get the specific diagonals and claustrophobic atmosphere.Throughout the film, the viewer almost experiences the madness that is happening on the set. The music pushes down on your brain, creating a feeling of uneasiness. The monotone music combined with the asymmetrical diagonals represent the mindset of Francis, who is in the insane asylum. The overall film presents a horror-like impression. The film â€Å"Nonstarter† also falls into the category of German Expressionism.However, it is more sped-up and includes several montages, especially during the scene with Count Oarlock. â€Å"Nonstarter† like, â€Å"The Cabinet of Dry. Calamari† takes on similar traits of darkness and delusion. The directors partaking in such a movement often used it as a cry for help, considering the after math of WWW for Germany. â€Å"Nonstarter† uses any shadowing techniques; personally, I think they symbolize the issues the society was going through with humiliation and disease.Count Oarlock, throughout the beginning of the film was only seen in shadows, and the first time the viewer sees Oarlock is the first time Hotter encounters him at gate of the mansion. Oarlock plays the part as the cursed vampire well; it adds the finishing detail to the film of German Expressionism. â€Å"The Cabinet of Dry. Calamari† and â€Å"Nonstarter† take on a deeper meaning than what is shown on the screen. They include a lot if inner thoughts and emotions that can allude to the general public of Germany at the t ime.

As stated in the definition of self-directed learning that an individual gains the ability to learn on his own, similarly when an individual becomes mature and is recognized as an adult, he/she becomes independent, he/she himself chooses what to learn from and where to learn from, they even identify resources that will help them in performing their jobs in a better way, they even obtain knowledge with the aim of immediate application of information they have gained and as their maturity level increases, their inner drive to obtain aims and objectives even increases which motivates them to gain knowledge (Pata, 2009).
